Mowing the lawn forced me to think about this North American obsession. I hadn’t mowed a lawn in years and the whole time I was on the riding mower or pushing the push mower I felt angry. There’s not much need for lawns. Give me flower beds, or perennial berries, or even white clover…a nitrogen fixing plant that only needs minimal mowing and oh get this doesn’t require the water and fertilizer other grass lawns need to stay green because of its’ deep roots.
