Phew, bread baking is lots of repetition. This loa Phew, bread baking is lots of repetition. This load of bread is a small 22 batch. Today I baked just shy of 90 loaves, which is a small day for me. In the years of 2020-2022 when I was going to the Carp Farmers market every week I was baking 200+ loaves in one day solo. It pushed me to my physical and mental limits causing me to almost quit completely. Luckily I eventually listened to my body and slowed down to a pace that I can manage! Bread is available @ottawavalleycoffee.arnprior and @ottawavalleycoffee (Renfrew) every second Friday now. Maybe it doesn't really line up with your daily bread, but it works for me 😘
I have said it before and I'll say it again. Human I have said it before and I'll say it again. Human Design gets to the bottom of who you really are. It's energy, frequency, cosmic awareness, physics and magic all in one. It appeals to the skeptics (once skepticism is put aside 😉), the spiritual, the searchers, the healing and healers. Learning your unique blueprint can help you search yourself for the unhealed (conditioned) parts of you and give you a path to start working through whatever challenges you. All you need is your birth data and someone to help guide you through the basics before you can unleash the endless exploration and embodiment of your true self. It takes some commitment to yourself that is for sure. You will start to find layers that might have been wrapped far below the surface, but throughout your time exploring you will start to become more aware of patterns that you've been hauling along for a long time. Beauty. This world needs more beauty. Brought fort Beauty. This world needs more beauty. Brought forth from loving hands, with once living beings. It has always been in my nature to make, especially once I escaped what was to me in retrospect an academic trap. I was thinking today as I wove some of my last bits of a bundle of willow that everything is connected and these connections pop up in unexpected ways. The connection between willow weaving and bread baking-taking a once living plant to create something else out of it that is of great use and meaning in our lives when we take the time to regard it. One is to eat and one is to hold something (perhaps food harvested from the garden). Both have a very methodical process that can be followed step by step, but in every step there is nuance and intuition that has to be developed over repetition. Ah repetition. Both skills need to be repeated often and over and over again to master. It's only in recent years that I started to feel the deep connection to place, self and my ancestors while I spend time making. I can feel them in the willow and the dough. The kneading or weaving collapsing time so that I don't need intellectual knowledge to be there with them. I hope that my sharing can inspire you to find something beautiful to make or to share with the world. It's in all of our nature's to do so. ❤️❤️❤️
Do you love the idea of sourdough bread, but hate Do you love the idea of sourdough bread, but hate the sharp crunchy crust that sourdough bakers rave about? Or do you have children who eat the insides and leave the crust EVERY SINGLE TIME?! Then my upcoming Wholegrain/Blended Flour Sourdough Sandwich loaf workshop just might be for you! The recipe we will learn creates a loaf pan shape bread that has soft crust and a hint of sweetness (from honey) BUT it is also a sourdough loaf with absolutely no instant yeast in it. We all love this bread in my house. It is a versatile recipe- you can use all wholegrain flours or mix it up. The loaf pictured here is mostly white with some wholewheat in it. In this workshop we will also be learning about wholegrain flours- how to work with them, where to find them etc. And if you don't care about that aspect then you can just come for the soft crust 😅🍞. You get to choose which flours you use in the workshop for the loaf you will take home and bake! When I spend time away from online spaces my heart bubbles over with words, ideas, desires and dreams that pull at me and I want to write them down and keep them safe and share only when I think they are ready. Or when they make sense to what I'm apparently supposed to share to suit a niche or an expectation. In Human Design my Chiron (the wounded healer) is in gate 20. Chiron doesn't give any definition in your HD chart. But it is deeply influential in your life. I've been exploring this lately. Gate 20 is patience, contemplation, alchemy and the present moment. To say your truth in the NOW. How often do we do that? Me, not so much. This could be in many circumstances - online, in your relationships, to yourself.  Do you know what gate your Chiron is in HD? Sandwich loaves are such a versatile bread- a lot Sandwich loaves are such a versatile bread- a lot of people love the crusty white sourdough that comes out of a dutch oven, but I know that a lot of people love softer bread and a shape that will fit nicely in their toaster! Another bonus with baking bread in a loaf pan is that even though gluten development is still important, we can play around with different wholegrain and heritage blends that might not stand up as well. The loaf pan holds up any dough and I would say almost 99% of the time yields a great loaf no matter the level of protein and gluten in a flour! That is why I am offering a workshop just for this on Sunday November 24th teaching you how to make this exact loaf that also allows you to go home and swap ingredients to your taste and liking.
